About Empower
Empower was conceptualized by Kerri Maphis and Vanessa Solomon out of friendship, a shared vision, and a calling to make a difference in their community. It didn’t take long for their dream to become a reality and Empower opened its doors in January of 2020.
Kerri and Vanessa are both Aveda Institute graduates with a combined 27 years of experience behind the chair. They share a love of naturally derived and sustainable beauty practices and products.

The definition of community is people living in an area or a group or groups of people who share common interests. At Empower, we believe that St. Petersburg is our community, and our community is our responsibility. We believe that all people in our community deserve access to a safe roof over their heads, fresh meals to eat, clean clothing, and all other basic necessities. To support our beliefs, a portion of our services goes back into our community and we partner with local organizations. We strive to be the change we want to see in the world.

We are a nonprofit that provides free resources to prevent and alleviate homelessness, low-income, and at-risks situations. Our goal is to bridge the gap between people and the resources they need. The vision is that everyone has the opportunity to gain access to the resources they need to obtain a better life.
Kind Mouse Productions Inc is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in St. Petersburg, Florida that assists families and children in Pinellas County with food insecurities and chronic hunger.
Our mission is for no child to go without necessities like diapers, wipes, clean clothing, and other basic items. We pride ourselves on being Pinellas County’s only community diaper bank. Our goal is for no child ages 0-12 to go without basic necessities.
Giving back is cool.
Outside of giving our time to the community at several events in a year, Empower also donates $1 from every service back into the community. We hand select the organization based on the immediate needs of our community. As of 2024, Empower has donated roughly $20,000 back into the Tampa Bay community.
